I Have Tried

I have tried to will a reversal of time. 

I am trying to write my life in reverse.

I am trying to reverse nature

and time

and the loss of my youth

and the future 

that was far away 

and would never come very soon 

and could sit there,

far in the distance

waiting for me to catch it, 

and tell it all the things 

I did to get there.

And what I have learned

is 

the future is a mirage

and there is nothing to say

when you get to that place

you thought it was.
