Soon I Will See You Again
Soon I Will See You Again
Soon, I will see you again.
Soon my fingers will be entwined with yours.
I am enamored by the simplicity of our hands touching
or our kisses that will never lose the rapturous awkwardness of the very first one.
I throw everything that will burn into the fire.
I watch the flames bulge and grow,
watch the flames turn night into day.
The flames ignite the air around us.
The flames burn as I burn.
How can it be that in an instant life can be nothing like before?
Transformed in an act of alchemy.
How can it be that a voice, speaking so softly in my ear,
could transfix and possess me?
How could it be that I have found you,
that you have turned in my direction and not looked away?
We change our lives as often as we blink.
Each moment is a step into an untamed world.
There is too much space for anything to be contained,
too many wild thoughts roaming in cadence to their natures on the vast plains of our imaginations.
And are we imagining all of this?
You and I are vivid, radiant, incandescent.
We are like dreams, limitless and beautiful.
And our distance is romantic.
And I think of your lips
and the soft fragrant saltiness at the slope of your neck;
everything is seasoned with the taste of you,
this memory that is forged and stitched upon my heart.
And my hands form the outline of your waist,
And my mouth forms the shape of your name.
